Horse meat in my cow meat?

Thumb_horse Don't tell anyone, but this is actually a donkey and not a horse (it's close, though).

Excuse me, there is horse meat in my cow meat!

Do you know about the current big meat scandal in Germany? Horse meat in ready meals! Horse meat instead of beef! Gasp!

Here comes the big outcry. People are shocked because they've eaten horse meat. Horses aren't supposed to be eaten. You can cuddle horses! Horses are intelligent. Eating horses is disgusting and wrong!

And the biggest scandal of all: There isn't even a discussion going on why horse meat is any different from beef.

One's a horse, one's a cow. They're about the same size. Both of them look kind of funny when you take pictures of their noses. You actually can cuddle with both of them (beware of the horns, though). One mooes, the other one neighs.

I think eating meat is cruel, but, to me, eating a cow is just as wrong as eating a horse. I just can't see the difference.
