Wikipedia says, "A waffle is a batter- or dough-based cake cooked in a waffle iron patterned to give a distinctive and characteristic shape. "
Veganizing the recipe was easy enough, I used water instead of milk (I've always done that, even back then in my omnivore life, it makes the waffles crispy) and my friend No-Egg came to the rescue.
The dough was delicious, the waffle iron hot... and I don't even know what exactly happend, but thirty minutes later, the kitchen looked like a battlefield and the "distinctive and characteristic shape" was nowhere seen.
Apparently, veganizing my old waffle recipes does not work.
What a messy way to find that out!
