Firestorm Cafe and Books is a worker-owned and self-managed business that aims to provide community space, critical literature and an alternative economic model based on cooperative, libertarian principles. The cafe offers a menu consisting of soup of the day, salads, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, snacks, baked goodies, ice cream, coffee and espresso, hot and cold teas, and more. Salad dressings include house raspberry balsamic vinaigrette, ranch or goddess. Paninis are served with a salad or chips on organic bread. Baked goodies are baked daily on site using organic, locally milled flours. Everything is vegan except for the organic dairy milk option that is available for coffee drinks. Local, organic and fair trade ingredients are used as much as possible. Takeaway is available. Firestorm also hosts a wide range of events, workshops, film screenings, fund raisers and presentations. The literature selection is a unique blend of off-beat, underground and independently published materials.
